In this review, I am going to be testing out the Gourmia 6QT Digital Air Fryer and sharing everything you need to know before buying or using one. From setup and features to real food tests and honest results, this full demo covers it all.

What’s in the Box and How It’s Built
The Gourmia 6QT Digital Air Fryer measures 15.3 inches tall and 13.5 inches in both width and depth, making it a solid size for family use. It comes with a 6-quart removable basket, a crisper tray, and a multi-purpose rack. All of these parts are dishwasher safe, which makes cleanup much easier.
Inside the box, you will also find a user manual and a recipe book containing up to 30 recipes, which is a nice bonus especially if you are new to air frying.
Before using the air fryer for the first time, it is a good idea to wipe down the top heating elements inside the unit. There is often some residue left from manufacturing, and cleaning it out beforehand helps reduce that smell you sometimes get during the first use. A quick wipe down and a wash of the basket and parts before cooking is always the right call.
Digital Touch Screen and Preset Programs
The Gourmia 6QT Digital Air Fryer features a digital touch screen display panel. Once you press the On button, you will see six air fry preset programs designed for various types of foods, along with six additional cooking preset programs including bake, roast, broil, dehydrate, reheat, and keep warm.

The Air Fry button defaults to 200 degrees Celsius or 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes with preheat enabled. You can turn the preheat off if you prefer to skip that step. One thing worth noting is that the Air Fry preset does not automatically enable the Turn Reminder, so you have to manually press it if you want the air fryer to alert you to flip your food halfway through cooking.
The Fries preset, on the other hand, has both preheat and the Turn Reminder enabled by default. It would have been ideal if the Air Fry mode included the same feature.
Cooking Tests and Results
Fries and Chicken Nuggets
For the first test, I used the multi-purpose rack to cook two foods at the same time, placing fries at the bottom and chicken nuggets on the rack. I used the Air Fry button and cooked everything for 20 minutes after preheating.
I forgot to switch on the Turn Reminder, but luckily remembered to check the food around the 12 to 13 minute mark. The nuggets were nearly done at that point, so I flipped them over and added just two more minutes. Everything came out perfectly done in about 15 minutes total.

Now that I know 15 minutes works well for both fries and chicken nuggets, I will simply use the Fries button going forward since it has the Turn Reminder built in. When I cut into the fries they were perfectly cooked, and the chicken nuggets were crispy on the outside and fully cooked all the way through.
Potato Spring Rolls
I sprayed a light coat of cooking oil on a small batch of potato spring rolls and air-fried them for 8 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius. Again, I forgot to press the Turn Reminder, but I did manually check and flip them halfway through. One helpful feature I noticed is that if you open the basket or pause the cooking at any point, the timer automatically picks up from where it left off as long as you do not cancel the program.
The spring rolls did come out crispy and the potato filling was cooked through, but the pastry itself turned out very dry. They were still edible, but this is something that will need more testing and adjustments to get a better result.

Chicken Drumsticks and Breast Pieces
For this test, I preheated the air fryer on the Air Fry setting and cooked six drumsticks in the basket along with two small chicken breast pieces placed on the rack. After eight minutes, I removed the breast pieces and gave the drumsticks another 10 minutes to finish cooking.
Looking back, eight minutes was slightly too long for the breast pieces since they were small and thin. Five to six minutes would have been enough. They came out quite dry as a result. The drumsticks, however, were cooked to perfection. The skin was beautifully crispy and the meat inside was incredibly juicy and tender. Honestly, this was the best thing I cooked in the air fryer during this entire session.
Mini Pizzas
A full 12-inch pizza will not fit in the basket, but two mini pizzas fit in just fine. Following the recipe book’s air fryer chart, I cooked them at 190 degrees Celsius or 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes. That turned out to be too long and the tops overcooked significantly. The underside was nicely done, but the top was overdone. Next time, reducing the cooking time to around eight minutes should give a much better result.
Bone-In Chicken Thighs with Baking Powder
This time I remembered to turn on the Turn Reminder. I set the air fryer to 200 degrees Celsius with preheat and increased the time to 25 minutes. While the unit was preheating, I prepped the bone-in chicken thighs by sprinkling baking powder on both sides just before placing them in the basket with the skin side facing down. Halfway through I flipped them over and let them finish cooking.
The results were outstanding. The baking powder created an incredibly crispy skin with a beautiful bubbly texture on the outside while the inside remained juicy and tender. This was every bit as good as the drumsticks, if not better. If you want crispy chicken skin in an air fryer, baking powder is the way to go.
Reheating Leftovers
The next day I used the Reheat function to warm up the leftover drumsticks, fries, and spring rolls. The default reheat time is 15 minutes, but that is far too long. I reduced it down to just three minutes and everything came out warm and crispy again, which is exactly what you want from a reheat function.
Things to Watch Out For
There are a couple of things worth keeping in mind when using this air fryer. When it is cooking, you may notice quite a bit of smoke coming from the unit, so it is best not to place it too close to a wall or nearby appliances on the counter. You may also notice a hot plastic smell during the first few uses, but this is normal and should go away after a while.
One other thing that I have not been able to figure out is how to switch the temperature display from Celsius to Fahrenheit. Since most recipes are written in Fahrenheit, it would be really useful to have the display match. If anyone has figured out how to do this, please share it in the comments.

Final Thoughts
Overall, the Gourmia 6QT Digital Air Fryer is a great size for family use. It is not overly loud compared to other air fryers and it is very easy to use and clean. A viewing window would be a nice addition, and having the Turn Reminder automatically enabled on the Air Fry preset would make the experience even more user-friendly. But once you get used to the settings and how each food cooks, it delivers excellent results consistently.
